Character Name: Lucca Ashtear
Character Canon: Chrono Trigger
Canon point: Post-game, original variant without segues into Chrono Cross.

Abilities: Extensive magi-technical and mechanical skill with a focus on robotics and mecha. Able to make magitek weapons, swords, pistols, bows and energy rifles. Skilled fighter and sharpshooter, all self-taught by necessity. Strong fire-magic skill; can potentially set half a continent on fire if she really had to. Can combine abilities with others, blending magic and swordplay or melding spells to double the attack power.
Personality: Lucca is energetic, curious, fiery, studious and upbeat. She calls herself an inventor, and she and her father Taban had been attempting to build a better mousetrap since she was five. Unfortunately some of her inventions tend to dramatically (and sometimes explosively) fail due to her exuberance superceeding her sense of self-preservation. Although, she would defend herself in saying that it was just a harmless prototype every time. She can be quick to become inflamed when her skills are put into question. She's prone to technobabble, leaving many people staring blankly at her not because she tries to show how smart she is but because she just can't find any simpler terms to put it into. She also tends to accidentally set things on fire with her magic when she gets angry, upset or nervous. Usually it's easily extinguished. Usually.
She has a special affinity for robots, and considers robotics a specialty of hers. The idea of creating an artificial creature that can move and think (and maybe even feel) resonates deeply with her. Some of her creations can be a little... clunky, but others' standards, but she actually paves the way for robotics in her world for the next thousand years or so. She'd be the first to mention this... because she's seen it herself.
Over the course of the game, she, her best friend Crono, and several other people from over eons embarked on a time-traveling quest to find a way to defeat a creature known as Lavos, a parasitic alien that had literally been sucking the planet dry for millions of years right below their feet. She herself is credited with building the first "Gate Key" that allowed them to use dormant temporal portals. She learned to use fire magic at the End of Time (More of an eternal place than an instant, really) and grew to be an incredibly-capable magic-user. As such, she doesn't tend to realize just how much fire freaks everyone else out.
She has a habit of boasting on her technical skill and brain power, though that's half genuine confidence and half using her intelligence as a refuge of self-worth. She always knew she was "the smart one" of the group with girls like Marle and Ayla around, and that only played up the defense mechanism because she thought that she wasn't--isn't--all that pretty or appealing by comparison. The fact that her childhood friend ultimately became engaged to the former doesn't help, either. But, she's happy for them. No, really.
She's also more of a hormone-soaked teenager than she seems. She's been known to hide romance stories behind the technical manuals she pretends to read. She's bisexual and she realizes this, having a soft spot for serene, graceful women and swordsmen with long hair. She just doesn't have a clue how to explore this yet; the most she's done is stare and blather stupidly. That's what the romance books are for, see.
